BGC Melody and Management Pay Homage to the Memory of Mama Nguéa Laroute
The entire BGC family – artists, managers and assistants- humbly join hearts in sending our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Mama Nguéa Laroute, a bonafide giant of Cameroonian music.
The veteran Makossa diva, Louise Koubinom, better known by her stage name Nguéa Laroute, passed onto glory this Sunday, June 14th 2020, after long years of battling with diabetes.
Mama Nguéa, as she was adorably called by her fans, would have been 60 on July 2nd, 2020. She was also a former hairdresser who became a music sensation for the better part of the last generation.
She had 7 albums in her nearly three decades of musical career and was one of the most loved musicians in the country. She helped sell the Makoossa music genre all over the world.
During the heydays of her illustrious career, she sang in Douala, French and Baneng, her mother tongue. The elegant and cute Mama Nguéa entertained the world with some of the most sung makossa tunes including “Soleil de Décembre”, which was among the most popular in her repertoire.
Despite her failing health, Mama Nguéa stayed true to her music, singing and entertaining fans in clubs and snacks despite losing both legs to diabetes.
May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may all future generations of Cameroonian artists learn the lessons of both her illustrious career and the difficult last years of her life on earth.
